Project Grad Philadelphia

Project GRAD Philadelphia is proud to award college scholarships to deserving students of William L. Sayre High School to pursue higher education. This critical funding is a lifeline for achievers from underserved backgrounds, who tap into the support services, enrichment and resources that Project GRAD affords our students. Project GRAD will provide each eligible student $1,500 toward their educational expenses for up to 4 years of their college education.

As part of our 2011 development campaign, we are holding a scholarship fundraiser on June 14, 2001. The theme of the event is “A Time to Remember, Fulfilling Dreams”. At this event distinguished alumni of Sayre HS will be honored: the Honorable Janine Blackwell (Philadelphia City Council), the Honorable Ronald G. Walters (PA State Representative) Judge John Braxton (Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas), and Ms. Lynnette Brown-Sow (VP of Government Relations and Marketing, Community College of Philadelphia). Additionally, the following individuals / organizations will be acknowledged for their support of college access and success – the Senator Robert Casey, Congressman Chaka Fattah, Ms. Saundra Dungee-Glenn, the PA Higher Education Assistance Agency, the Samuel Fels Foundation, UPS and Community College of Philadelphia. We'll have a fabulous time, eating fabulous food, drinking fabulous cocktails, and meeting fabulous new people, all against the backdrop of the magnificent Center City nightlife! Purchase stunning photography by Philadelphian archivist Bob Brand, capturing iconic scenes of 1960’s civil rights period and famous jazz personalities of yesteryear. Cash Bar available and light refreshments and sumptuous treats provided by On The Marc Catering.
